Scary how quickly one can transform from a productive worker and responsible citizen...
...to a Slovenly, Lazy, Unemployed Grownup, aka SLUG!
What's worse? Being bombarded by annoying non-stop celebrity gossip or constant news of economic doom and gloom. I don't know what's more painful, having to hear another story about Kate Gosselin and Tiger Woods, or tuning into the financial news and hearing things like, "The FDIC is bracing for a new wave of bank failures that could cost many billions of dollars..." "The FDIC has placed 702 lenders on a list of "problem" banks, could your bank be in trouble?" All that talk about continuing bank failures or unforeseen number of foreclosures still to come... makes me want to sock my money away under my mattress right about now (that is, if I actually had any money to sock away, and as for the mattress, I may need to sell that on ebay to pay next month's electric bill). Yes, if you're one of the MILLIONS still unemployed, you probably don't give a #%(# about Kate and Tiger who are still raking in the big bucks, you're just struggling to stay afloat! For those of us who are unemployed or under-employed, everyday is still a struggle... financial, emotionally, mentally!! It is particularly hard on the under-employed... like Mr. MBA Accountant who currently works part-time unclogging toilets for his brother-in-law's plumbing business. |
